About
We’re a small group of corporate sustainability practitioners. We started howtoesg because the sustainability reporting ecosystem, although well intentioned, often pushes companies and sustainability teams to focus on the wrong stuff. We wanted to get clarity on what actually makes the most difference on the ground.
So we test the tools, courses and ways of working ourselves, and talk candidly with other practitioners about what’s working, what isn’t and what they’d do differently. We share what we find so you can get the necessary work done faster and spend more of your time on work that’s impactful.
howtoesg began as a database of the courses, tools and providers we found useful in our own jobs. That’s still here and still growing, but the heart of the site is now our road tests and Between Us, our weekly newsletter of conversations with people doing the job.
howtoesg is a part-time project, run alongside our day jobs in corporate sustainability.

Natalya Lozovaya
Founder
Natalya has 15 years of diverse corporate responsibility experience across the UK, US, and Africa, and has worked in advocacy, consulting, and in-house, delivering sustainability outcomes through innovative reporting, data-driven management, and flexible stakeholder engagement.
Her day job is leading sustainability in a global law firm in London.
Natalya holds an MSc in Environmental Change and Management from the University of Oxford and is a certified Carbon Literacy Facilitator.
Olga Krylova
Bridge Builder
Olga Krylova is an accomplished sustainability leader with over a decade of international experience. She has managed projects and partnerships for global organizations across Switzerland, Kenya, Italy, and Russia, bringing a collaborative approach to advancing responsible business and environmental stewardship.
Olga holds a Master’s in Environmental Change and Management from the University of Oxford and is fluent in English, Russian, German, and French. Based in Switzerland, she is known for her ability to connect diverse teams, deliver measurable results, and champion sustainability through practical, innovative solutions.
